Starting a new job If you are going for a new job, then you may come across different challenges. The first days and weeks at this new workplace is critical for your future and your career development. It’s all about the first impression. We've build a list of advice to get through this important career step with proud and self confidence.

Networking, again and again

These days, most of the companies are looking for some exceptional networking people. These are people that are enough capable of building business relationship and can jump fully onboard! Look for information about what the boss wants the employee to do, but also how you can do it the more effectively possible. Outstanding networking needs to be done early on in a new position and is fundamental for both parties to gain a true understanding of what each is going to bring to work. Besides knowing the job description, you must also get a feeling for what else is expected of you and be able to anticipate and adapt to any changes, your network is your main tool to achieve that challenge.

Your image

Always dress what best suits you. If you are feeling great about yourself, then everyone out there in the office will notice your self-confidence. Keep in mind that it’s a professional life where everyone loves to be surrounded with attractive people. It doesn’t matter how you get there but try to get there early. It’s a real bad notion if you are reaching for the office late on your first day. Arriving before time for the office can also bring you a great chance to look for the new office, restaurants and other places that are useful to you.

When you are entering for the office building, think confident about yourself and stay positive. Smile when you walk around the corridor. Keep your head up and try to go for the superlative mode of eye contact. Well, it may feel you uncomfortable sometime to look at people’s eye in the office but it is the real sign of your self-confidence.

Be humble, respectful and friendly with the people you will meet in the office. Introduce yourself and keep in mind that you are always allowed to ask questions, as you are a new one to this premise. On the other hand it will show your interest for the job. People often want to help other. Do some extra effort to remember the name of other coworkers. This exact attitude will bring you help further and it will show that you are caring.

Take action

New employees need to get on board and to be fully functional as quickly as possible, but bosses must allow them to succeed. Sometimes, management is not working with you to help ease your transition into the company and you most likely need to know more than where the printer is. If this is the case, then look for other people in the office that can assist you. Well, this is a non-official approach but this is the best source on which you can rely and can find out what sort of strategies you need to become successful at your new company.

Communication is a key principle

Most of the time they are going to mention you that you are being evaluated. But remember you will also need to evaluate your bosses. After joining if you are finding that the environment or the job is not what that have been described before you during the hiring period, then opt for your boss and ask about it as soon as possible. As an employee you need to become proactive with your communication level and need to seek for help when things are not supporting you. If there is a new boss in the office and he/she is yet to announce a first meeting about the last week work or achievements, then take the initiative and try to schedule a meeting. It will show your skill to take the ownership of your career development.

Also, while it's okay to hold onto some of things you learned in your previous jobs and use that knowledge in your new job, remember that every company is different. Your first few weeks is not the right time to change the way things are done. "You're not at your old company and if you liked it so much why didn't you keep on there."
